Stewardship 2018 Updates

Corporate Giving

Currently, MER’s corporate giving supports two primary non-profit organizations: Pine Castle in Jacksonville, FL and Friendship Home in Norwell, MA. It is through these organizations that we have hired four employees who came to us through work programs at both our Randolph, MA and Atlantic Beach, FL offices. We also have team members who have come to support these charities on their own through volunteerism, board membership, and event participation.

Pine Castle was founded in 1952 by a group of 33 families of children with intellectual/developmental differences. Today, the Pine Castle campus serves more than three hundred adults with disabilities through a variety of programs including adult day leisure activities, life skills coaching, training, residential services, and on-campus and off-campus working opportunities and partnerships. Brian House and Bobby Higgins were featured in the Pine Castle promotional video. WATCH VIDEO HERE

MER began supporting Friendship Home in 2016. Friendship Home provides overnight respite care to individuals with developmental disabilities in an effort to support families who face the challenges and demands of caring for their loved ones. The Home is also where individuals with developmental disabilities from all over Southeastern Massachusetts can gather to participate in social and extracurricular activities. Friendship Home provides additional services such as the Bridges to Work Program, Camp YMCA/Friendship, and family resource referral services.

MER is dedicated to serving the communities in which we work and live, in 2018, we supported the following charities:

U.S. Coast Guard Charity Run, FL

Ponte Vedra Athletic Association, FL

Additionally, we support local initiatives in communities where our resource centers are located. Our employees give their time and energy to many organizations in their local communities. In 2018, members of our team walked for a cause in the Friendship Home walk-a-thon and volunteered for the Pequabuck River Watershed Association Annual River Clean-up in CT. MER and WRI employees teamed up together to both volunteer and run in the US Coast Guard 5K in Jacksonville, FL. We had members volunteer at the Ralph H. Johnson VA Earth Day event in Charleston, SC, serve as a camp counselor at the Friendship Home YMCA Camp in MA, donate science equipment to Jacksonville Public Schools (WRI), volunteer in various activities for both the United Way and the Boy Scouts of America in MA., and much more. Collectively, we donate hundreds of toys to the Marine Corps Toys for Tots annual holiday toy drive through many of our Resource Centers. Our employees actively engage in their communities; serving as coaches, troop leaders, board members, and volunteers, living our values of integrity and mutual respect both off the job as well as on.
